Let it...visual snow?

The Basics

Visual Snow Syndrome is a condition which affects 8.3 million people in the United States. Most commonly, patients present with visual snow (static, flashing lights, flickering dots), light sensitivity, complaints of seeing an after image, brain fog, tinnitus, and dizziness. These symptoms are present constantly, regardless of whether the eyes are open or closed.

Causes of Visual Snow

The specific cause of visual snow is not currently understood, but researchers believe that it is related to the brain’s inability to integrate complicated sensory information. Sometimes, visual snow follows a brain injury such as a concussion.

Treatment of Visual Snow

We have several ways to help treat visual snow. These include specific lens tints, vision therapy, and syntonics. Syntonics is the science of applying specific light frequencies to the eyes. These practices have been used safely for more than 70 years.

We would be happy to see you and come up with a plan together.
